Pigments for Concrete & Casting Compounds

Pigments for Concrete & Casting Compounds

Powder pigments are designed for colouring concrete, cement-based compounds, mortars, plaster and other compatible mineral casting materials. They are suitable for art, design, decorative casting and a wide range of creative projects.

The pigments colour the material throughout its mass rather than simply coating the surface. They can be used for solid colours, marble effects, layered designs and other decorative techniques, as well as for casting figurines, vessels, trays, sculptures and other objects. The manufacturer describes these pigments as colour-intensive and light-resistant.

How to Use the Pigments

It is recommended to mix the pigment thoroughly into the dry compound first, before adding water and preparing the casting mixture. This helps distribute the pigment evenly and achieve a more consistent colour.

For cement-based concrete and mortar compounds, the manufacturer's maximum recommended pigment dosage is:

up to 5% of the cement content.

For example, if 100 kg of concrete contains approximately 20 kg of cement, the maximum recommended pigment quantity would be around 1 kg. A higher cement content allows a correspondingly higher pigment addition.

The pigment percentage should therefore be calculated based on the cement content, not the total weight of the concrete mix.

When using pigments in materials without cement, such as certain plaster-based casting compounds, follow the instructions for the specific casting material and make a small test piece first.

What Are These Pigments Suitable For?

They can be used for:

  • decorative concrete;
  • casting concrete;
  • cement-based mortars;
  • plaster and mineral compounds;
  • coloured figurines and sculptures;
  • marble and layered effects;
  • coloured surface layers;
  • art and design projects.

Why Choose Powder Pigments?

  • colour the entire casting mixture;
  • allow colour intensity to be adjusted;
  • suitable for various cement and mineral compounds;
  • easy to incorporate into dry mixes;
  • suitable for solid colours and decorative effects;
  • useful for both small craft projects and larger concrete applications.
