Type 219 is a highly brightening powdered titanium dioxide pigment for whitening and lightening concrete, cement, mortar and other compatible mineral compounds.

It is suitable for art, design, decorative casting, crafts and construction projects. The pigment can be used to lighten the entire mix, create white and pastel castings, marble effects, pale decorative surface layers or cement-based paints. The manufacturer describes Type 219 as particularly strongly brightening, with titanium dioxide in the rutile crystal form.

Pigment designation: Titanium Dioxide Type 219 Extra White.

Type 219 can be used for:

• white and very pale mineral mixes;
• lightening grey cement;
• creating pastel shades together with other pigments;
• white details and decorative effects;
• marble and layered effects.

Please note that a white pigment will not necessarily turn grey cement completely white. The final whiteness also depends on the cement, aggregates and other ingredients. For a particularly clean white result, white cement or a white casting compound usually provides the best base.

Dosage

The manufacturer's maximum recommended dosage for concrete and cement-based mortars is:

up to 5% of the cement weight in the mix.

For example:

• if 100 kg of concrete contains approximately 20 kg of cement;
• 5% of 20 kg = 1 kg of pigment;
• the maximum recommended dosage would therefore be approximately 1 kg per 100 kg of this concrete mix.

The 5% recommendation refers to the cement content, not the total weight of the concrete.

Lower quantities are generally sufficient when only a subtle lightening effect or a pastel shade is required.

How to Use

The manufacturer recommends mixing the pigment into the dry compound before adding water.

1. Weigh the required amount of pigment.
2. Add it to the dry concrete, mortar or compatible mineral compound.
3. Mix thoroughly until the pigment is evenly distributed.
4. Add the specified amount of water.
5. Mix and cast as usual.
