KREUL Primer for Leaf Metal Paste is a thick, water-based adhesive primer for metal leaf and metal flakes, designed for decorative gilding and for use with KREUL Leaf Metal and Metallic Slices.

Unlike the liquid KREUL Primer for Leaf Metal, this product has a thick, paste-like consistency, making it particularly suitable for stencilling, raised effects, creating surface textures and working on glass.

The paste can be applied with a brush, sponge or palette knife. It is suitable for both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces and can be used to decorate picture frames, wooden objects, cards, glass lanterns and other interior or craft items.

How to Use

1. The surface must be clean, dry and free from dust and grease.
2. Apply KREUL Primer for Leaf Metal Paste with a brush, sponge or palette knife.
3. Allow it to dry until transparent – for at least 20 minutes.
4. Place the metal leaf or flakes onto the prepared surface and gently press them down with a soft, dry brush.
5. Carefully remove excess metal leaf with a brush or soft cloth.
6. Leave to dry for at least 12 hours, then gently polish the surface with a soft polishing cloth or cotton wool.

After several days, it is recommended to protect the decorated surface with KREUL Coating Varnish for Leaf Metal.

If the decorated object will be used outdoors, or on surfaces such as concrete, plaster, terracotta or clay, the manufacturer recommends using KREUL Zapon Varnish.
